The Film Society functions as a coalition and community builder offering advice, referrals, networking, mentoring and professional development across a range of areas and a variety of means. Crucial to these efforts are the various craft-based, small-group workshops and seminars with visiting American independent and international filmmakers. in 2008 the Film Society launched the bimonthly SFFS Film Arts Forum. This large-scale event draws on the active participation of various film industry professionals and includes multiple screening, networking and professional development opportunities under one roof.
